Lays, Kurkure and Bingo shall now come in smaller versions

The 2 Billion Dollar Snacks industry in India has come under the eyes of Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board. In order to meet new plastic norms, Snacks packets size is being reduced in after a Statewide ban on the sale of larger packets as it contributes to the Plastic Pollution. It is already being thought that the same shall be followed in rest of the states as well. Sustainable Packaging Solutions are need of the hour in order to reduce, recycle and reuse waste. There has been alarming concern about Multi Layered Plastics which are used for packaging of snacks as these cannot be recycled again. Therefore, there has been tremendous pressure on Producers to reduce their size and make the packaging recyclable once again. It is also an excellent opportunity for a PRO ( Producer Responsibility Organization) to step up their efforts not only in managing the waste of producers but also provide efficient design for the packaging industry. We at PRO India Recycling also are working on the similar ideas to make India a Plastic Waste and a Landfill Free nation.
