Pollution board to charge Goa Inc for compliance certs | Goa News

Panaji: The Goa State Pollution Control Board will now charge industries to issue compliance certificates.
The fees for authorisation to handle different types of waste has also been hiked by the board.
The board receives applications from industrial units registered with it, requesting to issue quarterly certificates for compliance of imports and compliance certificates.
Until now, no fees was being levied for their issuance. The board has proposed to levy a fee of Rs 5,000 for everycertificate.
The GSPCB has now also revised the charges for authorisation to handle different types of waste.
In Nov 2016, a fee of Rs 10,000 for processing authorisation under Hazardous and Other Waste (Management and Trans-boundary Movement) Rules 2016. But as considerable time of six years has passed since, the board proposed to revise the fees to Rs 15,000.
This fee will be applicable to handle hazardous and other waste and trans-boundary movement, e-waste, and solid waste.
To collect, store, transport, segregate, dismantle, recycle or dispose of e-waste, the fee is Rs 15,000 will now be charged. A similar amount will be charged for authorisation to generate, collect, store, transport, process, treat or dispose of solid waste.
For those seeking to manufacture, stock, distribute, sell, import or use plastic carry bags, plastic sheets or plastic packaging, the fees have been revised as well.
For registration under Plastic Waste Management Rules, Rs 5,000 will be charged for fresh registration with one-year validity.
Subsequent renewal application which has a validity of three years will be charged at Rs 15,000.
