Pepsico: PepsiCo India aims to transform waste workers into waste professionals with ‘Purna – Unnati ki Saajhedaari’ initiative

Renault-Nissan says it will cross several sustainability milestones by 2030

On this World Environment Day, PepsiCo India celebrates the strides made under the ongoing ‘Purna – Unnati ki Saajhedaari’ initiative in Mathura-Vrindavan. With an endeavour to make Mathura-Vrindavan one of the cleanest holy cities of India, PepsiCo Foundation along with Recity Network Private Limited & Mathura Vrindavan Nagar Nigam (MVNN) launched ‘Purna – Unnati ki Sajhedaari,’ in the year 2022. The initiative aims to transform waste workforces into waste professionals, and focuses on developing a circular, equitable and inclusive model of effective waste management in Mathura-Vrindavan.
By adopting a circular and inclusive approach beating plastic pollution, PepsiCo Foundation, Recity and Mathura-Vrindavan Nagar Nigam have professionalized over 100 waste workers, reached over 20,000 citizens, and engaged 10 lakh tourists and 7,000 school children on waste segregation. 4,000 property units were made aware about waste segregation and have so far diverted a total of 500 MT of municipal waste.
“As we celebrate World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to preserving and protecting our planet. We recognize the immense responsibility we have towards the environment and firmly believe in the power of innovation and collaboration to create a sustainable future. Our dedicated teams have been working tirelessly to develop groundbreaking solutions to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic waste. We are grateful to the Government of Uttar Pradesh for their unwavering support of the initiative and look forward to building on these remarkable milestones together. On this important day, we urge everyone to join hands in the fight against plastic pollution and create a greener future for generations to come,” PepsiCo said in a statement.
